QOSTA, Interpol headline California Weenie Roast

Performances by Queens Of The Stone Age and Interpol were among the highlights of KROQ's Weenie Roast y Fiesta held Saturday (May 19) at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, California.

The annual event hosted by the Los Angeles radio station also saw performances from Sweden's Peter, Bjorn and John, Los Angeles darlings Silversun Pickups and Linkin Park, as well as The Bravery, Korn and a surprise appearance by Incubus.

The Killers were forced to cancel their appearance at the Fiesta due to singer Brandon Flowers' throat injury.

Punk elder statesmen Bad Religion kicked things off on the main stage, previewing new material from their forthcoming album, due out in July.

Queens Of The Stone Age really got things rolling during their half-hour set, with frontman Josh Homme leading his band through the paces on storming tunes from their forthcoming album 'Era Vulgaris'. They also delved into their back catalogue, playing 'Feel Good Hit Of The Summer' and 'No One Knows'.

The Bravery also previewed material from their new album, 'The Sun And The Moon', and played several tracks from their self-titled debut.

Interpol delivered a lively set in the early evening, dressed in their trademark dark suits. The band ran through tracks including 'Obstacle 1', 'Evil', and 'Slow Hands'. Lamentably they faced a few technical problems and were forced to cut their set slightly short.

Adding a rare and brief female presence to the proceedings was former Concretes vocalist Victoria Bergsman, who lent a hand on Peter, Bjorn and John's hit single, 'Young Folks'.

The day's surprise appearance came from Incubus' frontman Brandon Boyd and guitarist Mike Einziger, who performed an understated set backed by a 14-piece men's choir.
The New Year headline Club NME LA

The New Year played a rousing set at Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture last night (June 20).

Brothers Matt and Bubba Kadane (formerly of Bedhead) drew a huge crowd and put on an innovative and passionate show for Club NME-goers.

Opening act David Bazan, also known as Pedro the Lion, won over the crowd with his mellow brand of acoustic folk-rock.

Resident DJ Dia spun a mix of rock, electronica, punk and hip-hop before and after the sets.

Club NME with Fred Perry Subculture takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night.

Next Wednesday (June 27), Sunday Drivers and Strata are set to headline Club NME LA with Fred Perry Subculture.
